Advanced CPD: Focus, Cognitive Load and Execution
MindWorks PRO Performance Faculty
Course reference: EAC-MW-A4-FCE

Course Details
Complex professional work can exceed available cognitive capacity when multiple decisions, interruptions and information streams compete simultaneously. This advanced course examines the relationship between cognitive load, attention and reliable execution. Participants analyse how work design and behavioural patterns can increase or reduce unnecessary mental demand.
The course explores task switching, working memory, prioritisation, environmental interruption and the sequencing of cognitively demanding tasks. Participants assess their own working systems and identify where attention is being fragmented or cognitive resources are being used inefficiently. Applied exercises support the development of more deliberate methods for maintaining execution under demanding conditions.
Outcomes
• Redesign aspects of workflow to protect attention and execution capacity.
• Apply more deliberate approaches to sequencing complex or demanding tasks.
• Develop strategies for maintaining performance when cognitive demand increases.
