Course Details

Effective delegation requires more than transferring tasks to another person. Managers need to establish appropriate authority, clarify outcomes and create proportionate mechanisms for accountability without slipping into micromanagement. This course provides a practical framework for delegating work while retaining the oversight required of the manager.

Participants examine task selection, capability, decision rights, expectations, checkpoints and follow-through. The course explores common delegation failures, including unclear ownership, excessive intervention and assumptions about what has been understood. Participants develop practical approaches for creating greater ownership while maintaining visibility of important outcomes.

Outcomes

• Decide more effectively what to delegate and what should remain with the manager.
• Set clearer outcomes, boundaries and decision rights when delegating work.
• Establish proportionate accountability and follow-up arrangements.
• Diagnose and correct common delegation and ownership problems.
